On removing the under-seat toolbox I was a little disappointed to see quite a bit of rust on this outrigger. The galvanised coating has rusted off.

I will clean it, treat it with Fertan then T Wash then a zinc-rich primer.  There was a considerable amount of mud packed in here and I don’t know the age or make of the chassis, but I was still surprised.

It just goes to show that all vehicles, regardless of material, need to be looked after.  I remember how many hours I spent painting my Lightweight’s new chassis and am convinced that is the best way to make them last.
